CHAMELEON TAFFETA

A fine dress poplin cloth, woven with all coloured silk yarns. The warp is all one colour, but the weft is a doubled yam made from two differently coloured threads with little twist. The effect is one of a changing colour according to how the light plays upon the-fabric. Usually woven in a fine reed with about half the number of picks as there are ends. One quality is made 96 X 48 per inch, 2/80's warp, 2/60's weft.
